2013 Common Build FLOATS

Could something like this be in the Boston Harbor? You can make it happen!

Could something like this be in the Boston Harbor? You can make it happen!

The Common Boston Common Build (CBCB) is a design and construction competition that challenges participants to design and build a project in response to real needs in just under 3 days. Based on this year’s Common Boston Week festival theme “The Vital Street,” we invite teams to explore the rich history of Boston’s waterways as a catalyst for commerce, trade, community-building and engagement. As a thoroughfare, the Boston Harbor is a continuous force transforming our great city with its vessels that transport goods, people, and even ideas of all variety to Boston’s blessed shore.

In the spirit of adventure represented by our beloved Harbor, this year’s CBCB teams will be tasked with creating FLOATING projects! We have partnered with the Boston Rowing Center to facilitate the installation of the teams’ creations, which will be anchored in place for the week. This is truly a one-of-a-kind event not to be missed!

Further details of the competition, including this year’s Common Material, will be revealed at the kick-off on Thursday May 30. Sign up now to be a part of this forward-thinking, expansive, and buoyant exchange, the very first of its kind in eight years of Common Boston programming!
