Common Boston's Common Build (or CBCB, as we like to call it) is a public design/build competition open to any individual or team.
All competition details, including location, are revealed at the kickoff meeting. Teams then have to design, construct, and install their entries within a $200 budget and a 72 hour timeframe.
This year, we will build upon our festival theme of “The Vital Street” while also working with a site partner in shaping the competition to respond to specific neighborhood needs. In doing this, we hope to demonstrate that an innovative and influential response to a real problem can alter the way we interact with and understand the built environment while creating tangible benefits for the community.
Look for a slight change to the game this year, as we are pushing the design envelope and raising the stakes!
