How do you measure the scale of happiness in a city?
By 2050, 80 percent of the world’s population will live in urban areas. Life in a megacity is both enchanting and challenging. Today, urban residents face peak oil, climate change, loneliness, and severe health issues related to the urban lifestyle.
Professor Jan Gehl, founding partner at Gehl Architects, argues that today’s cities can be built in a humane way that fosters inclusion and intimacy. In this visually stunning film, documentarian Andreas Dalsgaard travels around the world to illustrate how Gehls’ vision of a human megacity is being implemented across the planet.
Matthew Lister from Gehl Studio in New York will lead a Q&A after the film.
