Construction and Community Art: Two of Common Boston's favorite things!
Join us for a hard hat tour of the Novartis Center, the future "life sciences gateway" on Massachusetts Avenue, and meet some folks behind the community mural that currently embellishes the pedestrian saftey scaffolding.
Novartis has expanded their long-term lease with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for land across the street from their current Research facility. With the addition of two new buildings and the renovation of an existing building on the edge of MIT campus, this new Novartis Center will provide an important connection between Kendall and Central Squares and bring vibrancy and new jobs to the community with ample green space, pedestrian connections and street level retail space.
Come see the progress on the 550,000 square foot campus they are developing for lab, office and retail space. But first, to kick-off the tour, Maria Schaedler-Luera of the Community Art Center, Inc. and one of the teens who participated in the afterschool art program, will speak to the creation of the collaborative work of art that keeps Mass Ave. safe and alive for us today.
Meet at 4pm at the corner of Albany and Massachusetts Ave.
NOTE: No Photography allowed on site and closed-toed, sturdy shoes are required!
