The Our Lady of Good Voyage Shrine was built in the 1950s to serve fishermen, longshoremen, and their families. Just weeks ago, the Chapel moved to a new site in order to better serve local workers by offering them a place of rest and peace. Although the local professional landscape has changed considerably, the New Chapel retains much of its nautical heritage. For example, its ceiling is patterned after the hull of a ship and its walls are inscribed with the Psalm-prayer “They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters…” In its elements it is majestic, but in its size it is intimate. Come see this beautiful house of prayer and enjoy the peace it brings.
