Roslindale

June 19th

Please note the additional event on June 18th.

Roslindale is one of Boston’s little-known communities. Incorporated into Boston in 1873, it was initially an agricultural community, whose farms became single and multi family homes with the coming of the railroad in 1834. As Roslindale’s population rose as it became one of Boston’s Street Car suburbs. This tradition continues into the present day, as the MBTA’s commuter rail links north to Boston and to points south. Busses provide direct access the Orange Line as well as surrounding communities. Roslindale Village, anchored by Adams Park, serves as a retail and cultural center.

Although not large, Roslindale’s the reach of Roslindale’s institutions is seen year round: the annual Open Studios, the monthly local mic night at the Roslindale Congregational Church, to the pocket parks maintained by the local garden group. Its business community has been vital to revitalizing Roslindale and drawing new businesses and residents into the community. The result is a vibrarn, diverse community with a suburban feel and urban amenities.
