Cultural District Panel *Cancelled*

June 24th  2:30pm – 4:00pm

Massachusetts Historical Society, 1154 Boylston Street

This event has been cancelled.

Nationally, The Fenway is uniquely rich in cultural, historic, architectural and environmental resources all within 5 square miles in Boston, with over 20 cultural and academic institutions, (many of which have new building projects underway), and home to an Olmsted historic park–the Muddy River Park. Proclaimed in 1998 as “The Fenway Cultural District by Mayor Menino, the Fenway Alliance is now applying for Cultural District Designation through the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s new Cultural District initiative. Join us to preview a short video highlighting what makes the Fenway so special, and to discuss with us the potential benefits of designated cultural districts for cities. Add your thoughts as to how we can better identify, brand and promote this significant neighborhood in Boston, that is still too often one of its best kept secrets.

Panelists:
Dennis Fiori, President of the Massachusetts Historical Society
Meri Jenkins, Program Director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council
Chris Cook, Director of the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Culture and Tourism
Kelly Brilliant, Executive Director of the Fenway Alliance, Inc
