In 1970, a revolt against urban expressways succeeded in stopping an eight-lane highway from cutting through the heart of Boston, but a large swath of cleared land remained along what was otherwise a fine scale urban fabric. Walk the resulting Southwest Corridor near Mission Hill with the director of Northeastern’s School of Architecture, George Thrush. The tour looks at how development in the intervening decades has addressed the challenge of reconciling the different scales of highways and neighborhoods.
